Terms
These terms govern use of Ink. By using the website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Ink.
1. Operator and eligibility
Ink is operated by Jacques Tredoux, trading as Ink. You must be legally able to accept these terms. Ink is not directed to children under 13.
2. The service
Ink provides a browser-based writing environment, including local document storage, formatting, projects, exports, backups, recovery tools, scratch notes, snapshots, appearance themes, reading and focus modes, and related features. Features may change, pause, or be removed as the service develops.
3. Your writing belongs to you
You retain ownership of the writing and other material you create in Ink. Signing in authenticates your identity and separates local workspaces on the current browser; it does not by itself upload or synchronize document content. You are responsible for having the rights to content you write, paste, import, or publish.
4. Accounts and authentication
Account authentication is provided through Auth0 Universal Login. You are responsible for maintaining control of the email address, identity provider, devices, recovery methods, and authentication factors linked to your account. Do not attempt to access another person’s account or authentication session.
5. Acceptable use
Do not misuse Ink, interfere with its operation or security, attempt unauthorized access, distribute malware, violate another person’s rights, or use the service in a way that violates applicable law. Ink is a writing tool, not permission to publish unlawful material.
6. Local storage and backups
You are responsible for maintaining backups. Browser storage may be deleted, corrupted, restricted, or made unavailable. Ink’s autosave, trash, and snapshots are conveniences and are not substitutes for independent backup copies. The recovery scanner can only inspect storage still available to the same browser origin and does not guarantee that lost, cleared, corrupted, or differently scoped data can be recovered.
7. Exports and compatibility
Exported text, HTML, print output, and backup files may display differently across browsers and other applications. You should inspect exported work before relying on or publishing it.
8. Writer tools and appearance modes
Reading mode, typewriter mode, scratch margin, Dialogue Lens, themes, and similar tools are presentation and review aids. Dialogue Lens uses punctuation patterns and may miss, merge, or misidentify passages. Scratch notes are intended to be excluded from ordinary document exports, but you should inspect files before sharing them. Theme appearance may vary with browser, operating-system, accessibility, printing, and user-style settings.
9. Ink’s intellectual property
The Ink software, interface, visual design, original copy, wordmark, droplet mark, and related materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. “ink.” and the droplet mark are used as brand identifiers. These terms do not give you permission to copy the interface, branding, or code except where applicable law or a separate license expressly permits it.
10. Third-party services
Ink may rely on third parties such as Auth0, a hosting provider, and Google Fonts. Their services and policies are outside Ink’s control. Links to third-party sites do not imply endorsement.
11. No warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ink is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free output, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or permanent preservation of data. Consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost writing, profits, opportunities, or data arising from use of Ink. Any mandatory liability that cannot be excluded is limited only as far as applicable law allows.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise. Subject to any mandatory dispute process or consumer right, the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these terms.
14. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as Ink changes. Continued use after updated terms become effective means you accept them where permitted by law. Questions: jtredoux69420@gmail.com.
